University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering (OUTSOURCED) in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Your Responsibility The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research team in conducting academic research and essential support functions, including literature searches, drafting proposals, translation, conducting surveys, performing analyses and tests, and drafting manuscripts/reports. To take the lead on, plan, develop, and conduct individual and/or collaborative research in the area of material chemistry (e.g., corrosion inhibitor, coatings, batteries, supercapacitors, etc) and regularly disseminate and explain research findings through publication in reputable peer-reviewed journal outlets (on a sustained basis), conferences, and other appropriate media To identify opportunities and assist in writing bids for research grant applications. Prepare proposals and applications to both external and/or internal bodies for funding, contractual, or accreditation purposes. To build active relationships and collaboration with internal and external industries/companies, to jointly initiate/execute research projects, and to advance the research activities of the group. To participate in the supervision of Master's and Doctoral students. To manage and ensure the safety of the working laboratory space and environment. To participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate. To maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness. To undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required. About You Candidates must have a PhD degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferable in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese, and high analytical ability to analyse and illuminate data, interpret reports, evaluate and criticise texts, and bring new insights are necessary. Evidence of sufficient breadth or depth of research methodologies and techniques to work in the research area of chemistry and chemical engineering are also essential. Essential qualifications include: Appointment as Full Professor or equivalent academic standing At least 10 years of experience in both teaching and research in a field relevant to the School Strong international academic reputation demonstrated through research and teaching achievements Experience in the commercialization of research and research transfer (e.g., startups, entrepreneurship, patenting) would be an advantage Proven involvement in high-level academic administration and leadership such as roles in academic governance or scientific organizations Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and academic management Understanding of the economic and strategic context of academic and scientific activities within universities Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and teamwork Experience working with highly diverse and international student bodies and their representative organizations or equivalent experience leading diverse teams Familiarity with international and German higher education systems Fluency in English (language of instruction at Constructor University); proficiency in German would be an advantage Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and innovation of academic units and institutions, particularly in relation to digital transformation.
