About Tatung University

Basic information and contact details for Tatung University

Tatung University (TTU) is a teaching- and research-oriented private university recognised for its engineering and management programmes. It developed alongside Tatung Company, the leading electric multinational company with annual sales of $10 billion and 40,000 employees worldwide. TTU has placed a special emphasis on practical and professional learning. It has a proven track record of success in educating and training talented engineers, business professionals and industrial leaders. Aware that having a well-educated and talented work force is crucial to the long-term success of a business, Shan-Chih Lin, founder of Tatung Company, donated 80 per cent of his personal assets to an association in 1942 to establish what is now known as Tatung University and Tatung Senior High School. Since then, the university has been the principal stockholder and the thinktank of Tatung Company. Formerly known as Tatung Institute of Technology, which was accredited firstly as a two-year college and then as a four-year institute, Tatung University adopted its present name in 1999.
