Key priorities include uniting the University's digital, data and IT functions under a single, coherent approach; championing the adoption of AI tools and digital technologies across teaching and professional services, including embedding digital capability and AI literacy within the curriculum so that students graduate equipped for an increasingly digital workplace; and establishing robust governance frameworks for the ethical and responsible use of AI and data. You will act as our principal authority on AI, driving cultural change through staff development and capability-building, while serving as the University's senior external ambassador for AI and digital transformation, building effective partnerships with industry, government, and the education sectors.

The Division of Science (formerly known as Science Unit) (DoS) was established in 2015, comprising a dedicated team of scholars and researchers with expertise in biodiversity conservation, ecology, and sustainability analytics. The DoS offers 4 programmes in the field of environmental science and sustainability, including: (1) Minor in Environmental and Scientific Literacy; (2) MPhil in Environmental Science; (3) PhD in Environmental Science and (4) Master of Science in Sustainability and Environmental Analytics. Apart from teaching and research, the DoS is highly engaged in community outreach and knowledge transfer activities. We promote science education and sustainable development through immersive field visits and internships, citizen science initiatives, and Service-Learning projects.

The Division of Science (DoS) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor in Geoinformatics. We seek an outstanding and well-rounded scholar with expertise in geoinformatics, geographical information systems (GIS), remote sensing, geospatial analysis, or related fields. The successful candidate is expected to obtain externally funded research projects, publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to teaching and student supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a liberal arts setting. The appointee should also have the ability to develop and manage geospatial applications and to work with NGOs and external partners in support of knowledge transfer, applied research, and professional service.

General Requirements

Candidates should have (1) a PhD/Post-doctoral experience in the field of geography, GIS, remote sensing, GeoAI, or a related discipline; (2) relevant postdoctoral and/or independent research experience; (3) a good publication record in peer-reviewed, international journals; (4) a track record in competitive grant applications and fundings; (5) the ability to contribute to the Division of Science’s teaching at all levels, student supervision, outreach, knowledge-transfer, and services; (6) experience in developing, managing, and applying geospatial applications, tools, or platforms; and (7) the ability to contribute to the university’s goal of producing socially significant research that informs sustainable development. Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) provides conceptual and practical training for students seeking careers in the burgeoning creative and cultural industries in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area, and beyond. The Department offers three BA (Hon) programmes (Animation and Digital Arts; Film and Visual Arts; Creative Media Industries) and two MA programmes (Creative and Media Industries; Curating and Art History). The appointee will teach a wide range of subjects including animation, digital arts and immersive media, film and media studies, art history and curation. DACI is inviting applications for a tenure-track position at either the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Creative Industries to contribute to teaching and research in relevant areas in creative and cultural industries. The Role and Department

The Economic Development Senior Manager is a managerial position within the University's Commercialisation, Economic Development & Policy (CEDP) team, which sits within the Research and Innovation Services (RIS) Directorate. The post will report to the Head of Sector & Place Development and will work closely with professional services colleagues across CEDP and RIS, as well as senior colleagues in faculties, academic departments and wider University teams.

The Economic Development team helps Durham University apply its research, knowledge exchange, skills and innovation strengths to economic opportunities. It provides targeted support for major projects, investment propositions, skills initiatives and external relationships that deliver economic, intellectual and financial value to the University and its partners.

The Economic Development Senior Manager will lead and support a portfolio of activity focused on economic development, business and industry engagement, investment propositions, strategic partnerships and fundable opportunities. Working with academic, professional services, civic, public sector, further education and industry partners, the postholder will help develop shared priorities, coordinate collaborative programmes and shape business cases and bids aligned to regional and national economic priorities.

The role will have responsibility for supporting sector skills activity where this is directly linked to economic development priorities, including identifying opportunities to align the University's education, research and innovation strengths with business and industry needs in priority sectors. The postholder will also contribute to place-based programmes, regional innovation ecosystem development, investment pipeline activity and strategic proposals where Durham's capabilities can support local and regional economic transformation.

The Economic Development Senior Manager will also support the development of staff, including at least one direct report. They will contribute to continuous improvement across Economic Development service delivery, processes, governance and reporting, ensuring the team provides a coordinated, professional and high-impact service to internal and external stakeholders.
