Moscow State University of Civil Engineering is a national research university with a history that dates back to 1907. This is the year that the Middle Civil Engineering College was established. The college was renamed Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering in 1921 and in 1993 it became Moscow State University of Civil Engineering. 
The university is one of the oldest technical institutes of higher education in the Russian Federation. 
The university has six campuses located in Moscow and one in the Samara region. 
The university is a pioneer in the Russian Federation in the field of construction. It trains students to become engineers and specialists in a range of areas including construction management and information systems and technologies. Boasting 40 scientific laboratories and more than 50 innovative structures, the university is able to provide students with practical experience and high quality education.

ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool, UK, and Xi’an Jiaotong University, China – a C9 university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. ABOUT ACADEMY OF FUTURE EDUCATION (AOFE)

The Academy of Future Education of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is an educational innovation ecosystem that focuses on research, exploration, support, and dissemination of philosophy and best practices for future education. The core mission of the Academy is to impact education innovation and reform in China and beyond through a variety of projects and programmes, based on fundamental approaches in educational innovation and systemic development designed to contribute to the future of education. The Academy supports individuals and institutions at all levels, including all the K-15 schools as well as vocational education and higher education institutions.

Four units make up the Academy, namely the Department of Educational Studies (EDS), Institute of Leadership & Education Advanced Development (ILEAD), and Educational Development Unit (EDU), Learning Institute for Future Excellence (LIFE). EDU is a unique and leading institution in China for educational development, innovation, and education of educators (short courses and professional development communities). Its key customers include XJTLU staff as well as educational developers around the world.

ROLES OVERVIEW:

The broad mandate of the Educational Developer position is to support the implementation across XJTLU of learning and teaching. This is mainly achieved through the delivery of institutional academic development programmes; primarily, the PGCert programme, and other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes. Other areas of support include providing assistance and guidance on peer review, and curriculum and assessment design, as well as collaborating with departments to develop specific learning and teaching strategies, events, or activities. As appropriate, the Educational Developer will conduct research on teaching and learning, develop pedagogical resources, and lead workshops and other events for faculty, students and staff.

Supporting the teaching and learning practices of XJTLU staff are the primary responsibility and this position is open only as a teaching and practice position, not a teaching and research position.  

We are currently looking for a candidate with a specialization in the following area.

Industry-Integrated Education 

Based at our Taicang campus (XEC), this role will co-ordinate all of EDU’s support for all XEC faculty, including planning project-based learning training, supporting the syntegrative education committees, performing training needs analyses for the XEC campus and coordinating, designing and delivering large-scale curriculum and teaching projects at the XEC campus.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 


	Support the implementation, across the institution, of the University’s vision for Learning and Teaching.
	Delivery of modules on the PGCert programme.
	Support the development of an institutional CPD framework and ready relevant documentation for approval by the respective committees at XJTLU and the University of Liverpool, as well as accreditation by the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
	Provide expert and specialist advice and guidance to academic staff in developing excellence in teaching with a primary view of enhancing the student learning experience at XJTLU.
	Develop collaborative networks to identify and disseminate good practices in teaching and learning and evaluates their effectiveness.
	Recommend, lead and facilitate the effective sharing of good practices in assessments and other student evaluation.
	Act as a consultant/coach to academic staff seeking to enhance the quality of their teaching.
	Maintain and develop resources, including websites and other tools that facilitate national and international good practice in learning and teaching.
	Work closely with staff in other professional services to promote the use of appropriate technologies, facilities and methods in learning and teaching.
	Work collaboratively with departments, schools and centres, to contribute to achieving the strategic ambitions of the University in relation to academic enhancement and excellence in learning, teaching and research, and to contribute to achieving the University’s ongoing operational objectives.
	Keep up-to-date with changes and developments in related policies and procedures.
	Reflect on personal professional practice and keep abreast of current developments in learning and teaching through engagement with the wider community via subject associations, attendance and presentations at conferences, colloquiums and personal development days.
	Willing to engage in personal development and training and change the focus of the role, where appropriate, to meet the changing needs of the University.
	Engage with relevant university and departmental committees, working groups and forums to raise awareness of pedagogic principles, share examples of best practice and highlight developments in the field.
	Carry out any other duties as required, commensurate with the role position.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:


	A minimum of 5 years' experience in post-secondary education, and 3 years’ experience in educational development.
	Recent and substantial experience in influencing staff to enhance their teaching practice with AI.
	Excellent knowledge of current theories and practices in education, particularly with respect to post-secondary teaching and learning (e.g. student-centred active learning, large classes, small groups, team-based learning, blended and online learning, flipped classrooms, transnational education etc.), and educational development.
	The ability to create and deliver programming (informal and formal stand-alone or embedded activities) for teaching development.
	Collegiality and a willingness to work with others.
	The ability to effectively lead and collaborate on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams, multi-tasking and establishing priorities and meeting deadlines with minimal direction.
	Knowledge of and experience in Quality Assurance processes including accreditation requirements of professional bodies, and understanding of approaches to quality enhancement.
	Strong computer skills, including a high degree of facility with the use of all Microsoft applications and the use of Web 2.0 technologies for educational purposes using a VLE (Moodle preferred).
	A Masters in Education or related field, PhD in Education, EdD or related field preferred.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Membership of and engagement with a relevant professional body such as SEDA (Staff and Educational Development Association), Education Development Centre (EDC), or the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD) is preferred, though not essential.

Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy is preferred, though not essential. Senior and Principal Fellowship are more desirable.

The advertised position is located in the Department of Education in the section "Foundations of Education" of Univ. Prof. Dr. Daniel Tröhler. The Department's main responsibilities lie within the international area of teaching and research in the field of Education. Your primary task as a postdoctoral researcher is to conduct research in quantum algorithms and quantum information. You are expected to take an active role in advancing the MQS group’s research projects.

Our recent work has focused on the theory and applications of quantum walk algorithms, variational quantum algorithms and their optimization, adiabatic quantum computation, and quantum machine learning. Theoretical and applied research into the capabilities of quantum computing and quantum advantage is a prospective topic across four application domains: bioinformatics, breeding, biomaterial synthesis, and cellulose‑processing enzyme design.

You will develop hybrid quantum‑classical algorithms to tackle domain‑specific, computationally demanding problems. Methods will be designed for near‑term (NISQ‑era) deployment, with models evaluated for expressivity, training stability, scalability, and resource requirements on representative problem sizes, and systematically benchmarked against fully classical baselines. In parallel, medium‑ to long‑term quantum algorithms will be explored to assess quantum readiness and to establish innovative methodologies relevant to each application field. The exact research topics can be tailored to your interests within the scope of our current projects.

Your goal is to produce world‑class research results, in collaboration with other group members in the lively environment of the MQS group, and to publish them in high‑impact journals.

In addition to research, you will also be expected to take part in the supervision of PhD students and the teaching activities of the research group.

Currently, our research group consists of 1 professor, 1 lecturer, 1 staff scientist, 2 postdocs and 5 PhD students, and several undergraduate research collaborators. The group is led by Professor Ilkka Tittonen.

Your experience and ambitions

Applicants are expected to


	hold a PhD and excellent study records in theoretical physics, mathematics, computer science, or other relevant field.
	have sufficient background in quantum computing to conduct research on the topic.
	have a demonstrated ability for independent and collaborative research on advanced topics.
	have a working proficiency in English. (Finnish language is not required.)


The research topics can be adjusted according to the background of the applicant. Familiarity with the areas outlined in this call is a clear advantage. Teaching experience will also be a valuable asset.

The contract is fixed-term and will be made for two (2) years. The salary for postdoctoral researcher is approximately 4200€/Month.

The Department of Biology (www.biol.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned tenured professorship at the Institute of Biochemistry (IBC; www.bc.biol.ethz.ch).

The successful candidate is expected to lead an independent, world-class research programme in the area of cellular organization and dynamics, working at the interface of cell biology, biochemistry and biophysics to tackle cutting edge problems in their field. Example research areas include the spatial, temporal and biophysical organization of cells, gene expression, genome organization, genome plasticity and stability, regulation of cell growth and division, organelle function, membrane biology, membrane-less compartments, intracellular trafficking and transport, and mechanisms of quality control and cellular homeostasis. The new professor will investigate biological systems at the cell, tissue and/or (model) organism level, possibly driving the development of new technologies to probe cellular parameters. Integration of concepts from different fields to develop unified models of cellular function that go beyond correlative observations is desired. The professorship will be embedded in the Department of Biology, which provides complementing expertise in structural biology, functional genomics, systems and computational biology, tissue development and homeostasis, molecular oncology and more.

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In general, at ETH Zurich undergraduate level courses are taught in German and English and graduate level courses are taught in English.
