Research Officer (AI and Industry Collaboration) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 537093), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term or a two-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The appointee will play a pivotal role in supporting AI-related research activities and will serve as the key liaison between the research team and partner firms. Specific responsibilities include:


	Managing research projects conducted in collaboration with industry partners;
	Identifying an serving as the primary point of contact between academic researchers and industry collaborators;
	Collecting data and relevant case materials resulting from these partnerships;
	Creating and preparing materials related to AI courses and knowledge transfer.


Requirements:

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, such as Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. They should demonstrate a strong combination of business acumen and technical expertise in AI and machine learning. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience in industry-academic collaboration or project management will be highly regarded.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of the basic salary.

The Division of Science (formerly known as Science Unit) (DoS) was established in 2015, comprising a dedicated team of scholars and researchers with expertise in biodiversity conservation, ecology, and sustainability analytics. The DoS offers 4 programmes in the field of environmental science and sustainability, including: (1) Minor in Environmental and Scientific Literacy; (2) MPhil in Environmental Science; (3) PhD in Environmental Science and (4) Master of Science in Sustainability and Environmental Analytics. Apart from teaching and research, the DoS is highly engaged in community outreach and knowledge transfer activities. We promote science education and sustainable development through immersive field visits and internships, citizen science initiatives, and Service-Learning projects.

The Division of Science (DoS) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor in Geoinformatics. We seek an outstanding and well-rounded scholar with expertise in geoinformatics, geographical information systems (GIS), remote sensing, geospatial analysis, or related fields. The successful candidate is expected to obtain externally funded research projects, publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to teaching and student supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a liberal arts setting. The appointee should also have the ability to develop and manage geospatial applications and to work with NGOs and external partners in support of knowledge transfer, applied research, and professional service.

General Requirements

Candidates should have (1) a PhD/Post-doctoral experience in the field of geography, GIS, remote sensing, GeoAI, or a related discipline; (2) relevant postdoctoral and/or independent research experience; (3) a good publication record in peer-reviewed, international journals; (4) a track record in competitive grant applications and fundings; (5) the ability to contribute to the Division of Science’s teaching at all levels, student supervision, outreach, knowledge-transfer, and services; (6) experience in developing, managing, and applying geospatial applications, tools, or platforms; and (7) the ability to contribute to the university’s goal of producing socially significant research that informs sustainable development. Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. The appointees are expected to submit applications for RGC grants, other local/overseas competitive grants and/or fellowship schemes.

The Division is looking for an experienced Associate Professor/Assistant Professor who will (1) conduct high-quality research in the state-of-the-art areas in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, large language models, and computer vision; (2) secure external competitive research grants in various funding bodies; (3) teach multiple subjects in both undergraduate-level and postgraduate-level programs in data science areas focusing on industrial data sciences, blockchain, data sciences, artificial intelligence, etc.; (4) work on the promotions and admissions as well as the operations for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and (5) contribute to other administrative duties as required by the supervisors.

General Requirements

Candidates should have (i) a doctoral degree in a relevant data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, information engineering, or other relevant areas; (ii) a strong publication record and outstanding citation counts in the research areas; (iii) experience in applying external grants and teaching relevant courses and relevant programme administrative experience will be advantages; (iv) good command of English and Chinese (including Mandarin). For the post of Associate Professor, six years of relevant experience in the tenure-track academic post should be required. The candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Professor.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. About the Role

The Spatial Information Coordinator supports the development and maintenance of the University's Space Management System and associated processes, helping ensure information about the University's buildings, spaces and facilities remains accurate, current and fit for purpose.

Working as part of a collaborative Strategic Asset Management team within Property, Facilities and Development, you will maintain the University's master architectural drawings and records, supporting space management, asset management and operational activities across a diverse property portfolio. The role contributes to updates arising from projects, audits and operational changes, ensuring critical property information remains reliable and accessible.

This opportunity will suit someone with experience in architectural drafting, facilities information management, space planning or a similar field who enjoys working with technical information and maintaining high-quality records. A background in facilities, space planning, or the university sector is desirable.

The key responsibilities of the position will include:


	Reviewing drawings and schedules for accuracy, completeness and compliance with University standards and project requirements.
	Maintaining and updating the University's master architectural drawings, plans and associated space information.
	Reviewing and updating records, datasets and business systems affected by projects, audits and spatial changes.
	Creating, publishing, storing and archiving records in the University's document management systems for use across the University.

About You

As the Spatial Information Coordinator, you will play a key role in maintaining and updating the University’s spatial data and floor plans, ensuring information is accurate and up to date. You will work closely with various teams to support space management processes and contribute to system improvements driven by audits and projects.

You will apply your technical skills in GIS and CAD to produce detailed drawings and manage spatial records, while also helping to develop data management solutions. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a problem-solving mindset will be essential as you collaborate with stakeholders and support the ongoing growth of the University’s information systems.

The Property, Facilities and Development (PFD) team works across all of Flinders’ places, spaces, and physical infrastructure.
