Novosibirsk State Agrarian University

Novosibirsk State Agrarian University has its roots with the Novosibirsk Agricultural Institute of Agronomic and Zootechnical Facilities in 1935, and officially became a university in 1991. The university was founded with the aims of reacting to the acute shortage of highly qualified specialist livestock breeders and agronomists in the West Siberian region. 
The university is now a research and educational centre and serves three regions: Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and Tomsk. 
Offered at the university are bachelors, masters, postgraduate studies and secondary vocational education. There are 26 bachelor’s disciplines to choose from, as well as 16 master’s specialisms across the university’s six faculties: agronomy, biotechnology, veterinary medicine, law, economics and management, and engineering. 
Across its campus, the university has a range of facilities including six research and laboratory buildings and several dormitories. 
Students can join dance, vocal, theatre, band and many more clubs which perform a range of activities across the year. There are also 22 sports classes on offer, including wrestling, powerlifting, heavy athletics, skiing, polyathlon, football, chess, hockey and equine school.

Job/Project description:

The Center for Sustainable Soil Sciences (CAES) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our academic institution as a postdoctoral research staff in Agronomy (Dynamic of organic matter in soils and how to improve it contains, particularly, on its stable form and establish the relationships with biological indicators for soil health under different land uses). The successful candidate will contribute to our institution's commitment to excellence in research and innovation in agronomy and soils sciences, mainly by conducting innovate research which allow us: (i) to evaluate the effect of land uses and agricultural practices on the capacity of soils to store carbon and (ii) to develop strategies (organo-mineral amendment, installation of a plant cover, inoculation by microorganisms of agronomic interest) and propose recommendations (iii) to increase the sequestration of organic matter on its stable form in the soils and (iv) to use practical biological soil health indicators, such as soil fauna, to promote sustainable use of agricultural soils in Africa.

Main responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be expected to:


	Conduct a survey with farmers to obtain a general view of real agricultural practices used in the selected Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan African countries where SOC is very low; 
	Propose characterisation of the soil properties collected from different studied farms; 
	Test how to Improve soil organic carbon content using organo-mineral resources under controlled condition;
	Assess the effect of using organo-mineral resources on soil carbon stock in the field;
	Implement agronomic assay to evaluate the stability of clay-humic complexes under culture conditions and how an intense of microbial activity contributes into the process of stabilization of organic matter;
	Assess the effects of organo-mineral management on soil biological parameters, including soil fauna;
	Predict the dynamic of OM in the future global climate change by using Soil Organic Models.
	Mentor master students and PhDs


Education, qualifications, and experience


	Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Agronomy, Soils Sciences with hands-on the dynamic of Organic Matter in the soils, or Soil Ecology. 
	Strong knowledge of soil science, soil fertility, and crop production systems in Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan African countries;
	Capabilities to set up field experiments and interpret measured data, including statistical medthods, and translate it high quality into manuscripts to be submitted; 
	Demonstrated experience of multidisciplinary research in the above research area.
	High-quality publications in relevant scientific journals demonstrate a strong record of research accomplishments.
	Experience in supervising undergraduate/graduate students.
	Strong communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and the broader scientific community.

Description

The Laboratory of Applied Nonlinear Dynamics (L.A.N.D.) within the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position, with a start date of November 2026. The successful candidate will have prior research experience, both computational and experimental, in the broad field of nonlinear mechanics. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in machine learning, wave propagation, metamaterials, and/or fluid–structure interactions.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD. Strong English communication skills, the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and demonstrated scientific creativity are essential.

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting computational and experimental research in one or more of the aforementioned areas, preparing manuscripts for publication in academic journals and conferences, assisting in the development of research proposals for funding agencies, presenting research findings to both academic and sponsor audiences, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

The Position

Applications are invited for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Physical Geography, to commence as soon as possible.

The Department seeks a dynamic and innovative scholar with a strong foundation in physical geography and demonstrated expertise in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to pressing environmental challenges. The successful candidate will bridge physical geography with cutting-edge computational and AI-driven methodologies, contributing to the Department's strategic vision of integrating geospatial data sciences with environmental and sustainability research.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:


	Conduct high-impact, internationally recognised interdisciplinary research in physical geography, addressing geographic questions in areas such as land-atmosphere interactions, environmental change, and Earth surface system science.
	Publish consistently in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals.
	Develop and secure competitive external research funding.
	Teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contribute to curriculum development, and design new courses relevant to the Department's programmes.
	Supervise postgraduate research students, including MPhil and PhD students.
	Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across the Department's three research themes and with external partners.
	Contribute to departmental service, administration, and knowledge exchange activities.


Requirements

Applicants must:


	Hold a PhD in Geography, Earth System Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
	Demonstrate strong expertise in physical geography, such as climate change, biogeography, hydrology, land surface processes, planetary health, or environmental systems.
	Have a strong record of high-impact publications in reputable international peer-reviewed journals.
	Demonstrate experience in, or clear potential for, securing competitive research grants.
	Have experience in, or show clear potential for, university-level teaching and postgraduate student supervision.


Candidates with 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience are preferred. Experience with AI-driven Earth observation data analysis, physically based modelling, ecological and carbon cycle research, public health research, or environmental monitoring systems will be considered an advantage.

Terms of Appointment

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term, full-time contract for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract. A highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided, as applicable.
