Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE), founded in 1931, is Uzbekistan鈥檚 leading specialised university for economics, finance, management, business, public policy, business law and digital transformation.聽
TSUE has played a central role in developing Uzbekistan鈥檚 economic and managerial capacity for more than nine decades. Following Presidential Decree No. 62 of 7 February 2024, the University was reorganised through the merger of Tashkent State University of Economics, Tashkent Financial Institute and the Fiscal Institute. This transformation created a stronger multidisciplinary institution with expanded expertise in economics, finance, taxation, banking, management, digital technologies and public-sector governance. Operating under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, TSUE has academic, organisational and financial autonomy.
The University鈥檚 strategic vision for 2025鈥2030 is to become a multicultural and internationally recognised academic hub that contributes directly to the global competitiveness and sustainable development of Uzbekistan. Its development model is based on the 鈥淯niversity 4.0鈥 concept and the 鈥6i Model鈥: Internationalisation, Interdisciplinarity, Intersectoral Connectivity, Innovation, Interaction and Inclusiveness. These principles guide institutional governance, curriculum development, research priorities, industry engagement and international cooperation.
TSUE provides education at bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚, doctoral and professional-development levels. Its academic portfolio covers economics and econometrics, finance, accounting, banking, taxation, management, marketing, international economics, tourism, logistics, business law, public administration, information systems, digital economy and data-driven decision-making. The University combines theoretical education with practical training through cooperation with ministries, public institutions, banks, corporations and leading employers. Its extensive academic structure includes faculties, specialised departments, regional units, technical colleges and international joint-degree programmes.
Research and innovation are central to TSUE鈥檚 institutional mission. From 2020 to 2026, University researchers produced 3,114 publications indexed in Scopus, while 58% of these outputs involved international collaboration. This reflects the University鈥檚 growing integration into global research networks and its increasing contribution to international scholarship in economics, management, finance, sustainability and interdisciplinary studies. TSUE supports research commercialisation, student entrepreneurship and technology transfer through the University 4.0 Transformation Center, the New Climate Innovation Center and the Digital Economy Incubation Center established in cooperation with IT Park Uzbekistan.
The New Climate Innovation Center advances research in green economy, climate policy and sustainable development, while the Digital Economy Incubation Center provides a platform for student start-ups, innovative IT products, applied research and technical training. These centres strengthen the connection between academic knowledge, business practice and national development priorities.
In 2026, TSUE ranked 201鈥250 in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings and achieved the 101鈥200 band in the 色盒直播 Impact Rankings 2026, reflecting its growing international research, interdisciplinary and sustainability profile. TSUE has achieved notable progress in international rankings. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, the University was placed in the 251鈥300 band for Economics and Econometrics, 251鈥300 for Law, 451鈥500 for Social Sciences and Management, and 551鈥600 for Business and Management Studies. It also holds a QS 5 Stars rating. In Webometrics 2026, TSUE ranked 2,839th among more than 31,000 institutions worldwide and placed first among universities in Uzbekistan. In UI GreenMetric 2026, the University ranked 264th globally and second nationally. These results demonstrate sustained progress in academic reputation, research visibility, digital presence, governance and environmental responsibility.
International cooperation is one of TSUE鈥檚 principal strategic priorities. The University maintains agreements with more than 160 higher education institutions and research organisations worldwide. Its partnership network supports joint degree programmes, student and staff mobility, collaborative research, visiting professorships, international conferences and joint publications.聽
Through its Faculty of International Education, Tashkent State University of Economics offers 14 international joint educational programmes in Economics, Finance, Tourism, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics and Management. These programmes are implemented with leading institutions, including IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Indonesia University of Education, Universitas Padjadjaran, Ural State University of Economics, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, M. Ryskulbekov Kyrgyz Economic University, Polotsk State University, the Prague Institute of Management and Technology, the Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics, Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), and the Russian Foreign Trade Academy. They provide international curricula, academic mobility and, where applicable, qualifications from both TSUE and partner institutions.
TSUE has obtained several internationally recognised academic and professional accreditations. The University鈥檚 Management programme has successfully received accreditation from the US-based Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), making TSUE the first higher education institution in Central Asia to achieve ACBSP accreditation. In addition, five bachelor鈥檚 programmes in finance, banking, accounting and auditing, economics, and insurance have been accredited in accordance with the international standards of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR), Kazakhstan. The IAAR accreditation decision for the bachelor鈥檚 programme in Accounting and Auditing is also registered in the European Quality Assurance Register and its Database of External Quality Assurance Results (EQAR/DEQAR), with accreditation valid from 31 May 2024 to 30 May 2029. Furthermore, several curricula within TSUE鈥檚 Accounting programme are recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom. This recognition enables eligible students and graduates to receive exemptions from selected ACCA examinations and progress more efficiently towards internationally recognised professional qualifications in accounting, auditing and finance.
TSUE actively participates in international programmes and initiatives such as Erasmus+, Jean Monnet, Horizon Europe, Fulbright and JICA. The University hosts a diverse international student community and offers opportunities for full-degree study, academic exchange, seasonal schools and collaborative research. Since 2021, its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have operated within a modular credit system aligned with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System.
The University鈥檚 graduates have made significant contributions to public administration, banking, finance, business and economic policy in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Alumni include senior government officials, ministers, parliamentarians, central bank leaders, business executives, researchers and international experts. Through its combination of academic tradition, institutional transformation, applied research, international engagement and commitment to sustainability, TSUE continues to strengthen its role as a leading centre for economic education and research in Central Asia.
