About the opportunity We are seeking a passionate and motivated optometrist to join our academic team, contributing to high-quality teaching, clinical supervision, and community engagement. In this role, you will: Deliver clinical teaching and provide hands-on supervision, supporting students to develop strong clinical, diagnostic and communication skills. Contribute to community-based education, including outreach clinics and placements within Aboriginal community-controlled health services, promoting culturally safe and responsive care. Support curriculum delivery, unit coordination, student assessment and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to enhance student learning through innovative teaching approaches, including digital and simulated learning environments. Engage in practice-based research, contributing to scholarship in areas such as clinical education, rural workforce development and equitable models of care. About you You will bring a combination of clinical expertise, teaching capability and a strong commitment to culturally safe practice. A degree in optometry with eligibility for registration and therapeutic endorsement with the Optometry Board of Australia. Demonstrated clinical experience and/or university teaching experience, with the ability to support student learning and supervise in clinical settings. Evidence of research capability (e.g. publications or practice-based scholarship), or a strong interest in clinically applied research. Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including community organisations and clinical partners. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes.
