Cedar Crest College is a liberal arts four year college for women, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The city itself is the largest growing in Pennsylvania, and was the hiding place of the Liberty Bell during the American Revolution.

The initial fall semester for freshman students is dedicated to the First Year Experience programme. During this time students will be given an interdisciplinary approach towards their studies, with engaging seminars encouraging students to interact with and discuss contemporary topics, and reading material such as Leymah Gbowee鈥檚聽Mighty Be Our Powers.

There are more than fifty bachelor of arts and science degrees on offer across nineteen sectors. There are also certificates available in the fields of anthropology, child welfare, and gerontology. The Centre for Lifelong Learning is also open to those who wish to study at least four years after receiving their high school diploma. As part of the course women may study any majors at Cedar Crest through daytime or evening study, and the Centre is open for men in evening study plus nursing or nuclear medicine by day.

Those who wish to prepare to study for a health profession can do so through the pre-medicine, pre-dentistry and pre-veterinary courses offered at Cedar Crest. There is also a minor in pre-law available.

Sporting teams at Cedar Crest are known as the Falcons, and facilities include the Rodale Aquatic Centre, Lees Hall for basketball and volleyball teams, and the聽Blaschak Field聽for softball.

Some noted alumnae of Crest College are television host Dr. Alice Holland, CEO of MTV Networks Judy McGrath, and four time Emmy award winning set designer Andrea Joel.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This role supports the Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) Programme, which aims to accelerate the decarbonisation and digitalisation of Singapore鈥檚 maritime sector. The project focuses on developing planning methods to support the electrification of harbour craft fleets, using real-world operational data to derive charging demand profiles and infrastructure recommendations. As part of this work, we are seeking a Research Fellow to lead the development of a user-friendly GUI tool that will enable stakeholders to interact with planning models and visualise simulation outputs. The RF will also support increasing coordination between different projects as the number of case studies and incoming datasets continues to grow. MQS currently comprises more than 18 members and is expanding. We are advancing foundational topics in quantum computing and their practical applications. In this position, you will work at the intersection of quantum computing, computational biology, genomics, and materials science. Your role and goals Your primary task as a doctoral researcher is to conduct research in quantum algorithms and quantum information, leading to the completion of your PhD. You are expected to take an active role in advancing the MQS group鈥檚 research projects. Our recent work has focused on the theory and applications of quantum walk algorithms, variational quantum algorithms and their optimization, adiabatic quantum computation, and quantum machine learning. Theoretical and applied research into the capabilities of quantum computing and quantum advantage is a prospective topic across four application domains: bioinformatics, breeding, biomaterial synthesis, and cellulose鈥憄rocessing enzyme design. You will develop hybrid quantum鈥慶lassical algorithms to tackle domain鈥憇pecific, computationally demanding problems. Methods will be designed for near鈥憈erm (NISQ鈥慹ra) deployment, with models evaluated for expressivity, training stability, scalability, and resource requirements on representative problem sizes, and systematically benchmarked against fully classical baselines. In parallel, medium鈥 to long鈥憈erm quantum algorithms will be explored to assess quantum readiness and to establish innovative methodologies relevant to each application field. The exact research topics can be tailored to your interests within the scope of our current projects. To provide technical and operational leadership in the development, execution, and translation of sustainable geomaterials for land reclamation under an industry-collaborative research programme, working under the strategic direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure successful delivery from laboratory research to pilot and field implementation. Key responsibilities include: Support the PI in the planning, execution, and delivery of the research project, including leading day-to-day technical activities to ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved within timeline and budget. Provide technical leadership in the development of carbonation-engineered geomaterials (e.g. demolition fines, incineration bottom ash) for reclamation applications, aligned with the research direction set by the PI. Design and oversee experimental programmes, including laboratory testing, pilot-scale trials, and field validation, ensuring technical rigour and relevance to industry application. Translate research findings into engineering solutions, including material specifications, performance frameworks, and implementation methodologies suitable for industry adoption. Lead the scale-up of laboratory processes (e.g. aqueous carbonation) to prototype and pilot systems, including system design, optimisation, and operational considerations. Supervise and mentor research staff (RFs, REs, RAs), including task allocation, technical guidance, and monitoring of progress to ensure effective team delivery. Coordinate with industry partners and vendors on technical matters, including trials, material supply, equipment development, and site implementation. Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to material variability, process scalability, and environmental compliance. Oversee environmental performance assessment, including leachate testing and alignment with regulatory requirements for reclamation use. Prepare and contribute to technical reports, journal publications, and presentations for stakeholders, funding agencies, and dissemination. Support the PI in identifying new research opportunities, contributing to proposal development, and strengthening industry engagement. Co-supervise undergraduate, Industrial Master and Doctoral students in alignment with project objectives. Ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, including maintaining risk assessments and safe laboratory and field practices. Job Requirements PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of relevant industry or research experience; or Bachelor鈥檚 or Master鈥檚 degree with at least 15 years of relevant industry or research experience. Demonstrated experience in leading technical components of research or engineering projects and supervising junior staff. Experience in experimental programme design, laboratory and/or field testing, and data-driven engineering evaluation. Familiarity with material treatment or processing methods (e.g. stabilisation, carbonation, or related technologies) will be advantageous.
