EdUHK provides a vibrant research culture and multidisciplinary environment that advances knowledge, scholarship and innovation with sustainable impact on education and society. The University places strong emphasis on research capability in education and complementary disciplines such as psychology, arts and humanities, social sciences and emerging areas including data science, AI and human behavioural neuroscience.?

Nine strategic research clusters have been established with the support of internal funds and research matching funds. Each cluster brings together multidisciplinary researchers to address contemporary societal challenges. The clusters cover areas including data analytics in social science, educational technology, environmental toxicology, learning sciences, linguistics and language, longevity, special educational needs (SEN), social media, and career and life development and lifelong learning. These clusters actively solicit external research grants and form international research alliances to conduct large-scale, high-quality enquiries.?

Two dedicated Academies—the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation and the Academy for Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures—serve as hubs that further foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The University has also established university-level research facilities in data science and artificial intelligence, and in human behavioural neuroscience, to support high-quality research.?

EdUHK collaborates with more than 200 partner universities and institutions in over 40 countries and regions, supporting joint research, dual-degree programmes and international academic exchange. Academic staff are encouraged to pursue high-quality, impactful research while contributing to innovative teaching and the professional development of future educators and talents.?
