Federal University of Technology, Owerri was established in 1980. The university was initially established on the premises of the Old Government Technical College. In 1982 it was moved to its own permanent premises. There are 12 schools at the university including agriculture and agricultural technology, health technology, basic medical science, information and communication technology, biological science, management technology, engineering and engineering technology, physical science, electrical systems engineering technology, postgraduate studies, environmental science and general studies. The university has both a physical library and an online library. The Centre for Continuing Education offers a range of undergraduate weekend programmes for professionals.

Job Description The Head works collaboratively with colleagues inside and outside the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science to achieve high quality outcomes in all School activities. The role calls for leadership as well as management capabilities, to ensure widespread support for advancing the School's vision and direction, especially its commitment to quality and distinctiveness. The Head of School will design and implement appropriate strategies to enable all academic and administrative staff to achieve the best of their capacity in the context of transparent and efficient governance. As HLSS is a cross-campus School, the Head will provide leadership in maintaining and enhancing the School as a unitary part of the organisation, as well as sound management in ensuring the most efficient delivery of its activities across the two campuses. The Head represents the School not only within the University, but also externally, and a key part of the role is to represent, promote and advocate for the School in the wider community, both locally and more widely. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES), together with the Division of Engineering, Civil and Urban Engineering Program, at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate in the broad area of geotechnical engineering. Research Project: The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development, testing, and analysis of resilient geotechnical systems. The work will rely on centrifuge modeling, geotechnical laboratory testing, and complementary numerical simulations to improve understanding of soil behavior and geotechnical system performance for infrastructure, energy, and sustainability applications. The Post-Doctoral Associate will be expected to: Perform and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests to support the experimental program. Plan, design, conduct, and analyze centrifuge model experiments. Contribute to the design and development of experimental setups and apparatus, with SolidWorks experience considered an advantage. Publish research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Work collaboratively with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, students, and other members of a multidisciplinary research team. Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field, with less than 5 years post-recieving the PhD, and with research experience in one or more of the following areas: Geotechnical laboratory testing, including soil characterization, sample preparation, mechanical testing, and experimental data analysis. Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modelling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers an opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. Applicants must have a BS (MS preferred) in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problemsolving and time management skills.聽 Applicants should ideally be willing to work with rodent models including basic handling and surgical techniques.
