Job Description The Head works collaboratively with colleagues inside and outside the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science to achieve high quality outcomes in all School activities. The role calls for leadership as well as management capabilities, to ensure widespread support for advancing the School's vision and direction, especially its commitment to quality and distinctiveness. The Head of School will design and implement appropriate strategies to enable all academic and administrative staff to achieve the best of their capacity in the context of transparent and efficient governance. As HLSS is a cross-campus School, the Head will provide leadership in maintaining and enhancing the School as a unitary part of the organisation, as well as sound management in ensuring the most efficient delivery of its activities across the two campuses. The Head represents the School not only within the University, but also externally, and a key part of the role is to represent, promote and advocate for the School in the wider community, both locally and more widely. This includes working with Griffith's Office of Marketing and Communications and the Office of Advancement to build relationships with external groups and individuals, and to secure external funding and other support to help the School achieve its objectives. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Description he Laboratory of Applied Nonlinear Dynamics (L.A.N.D.) within the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Scientist position, with a start date of January 2026. The successful candidate will have prior research experience, both computational and experimental, in the broad field of nonlinear mechanics. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in machine learning, wave propagation, metamaterials, and/or fluid–structure interactions. The minimum qualification for this appointment is a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with at least 5 years’ experience along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference papers. Strong English communication skills, the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and demonstrated scientific creativity are essential.
