In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. Duties and Responsibilities Manage, process, and analyse complex real-world healthcare datasets to generate insights and evidence. Develop and implement data pipelines for the ingestion, curation, and transformation of RWD into the common data model. Conduct advanced statistical analyses and epidemiological studies on RWD. Collaborate with the Research Coordinators and Project Managers to define analysis plans and ensure data quality for specific projects. Prepare analysis datasets, reports, and visualisations for both internal stakeholders and external clients/sponsors. Requirements Ph.D. degree or above in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Qualifications: A good Bachelor鈥檚, Master鈥檚 or Doctorate degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Food and Biological Engineering, Material Science or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in Food Analysis and Characterisation of carbohydrate, proteins, polyphenols, or metabolises like mycotoxins to support research or application. Equivalent industry experience may also be considered. Desirable relevant industry experience, preferably in a technical role within an organisation driving research and/or innovation outcomes. Strong technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Carbohydrate chemistry for structure, compositional analysis including while not limited to starch, oligosaccharide, soluble and insoluble fibres. Knowledge in structure-function relationship of polysaccharides (fiber, starch). Such knowledge can be transferred to ingredient formulation technology which integrated with food processing and food texture. Proteomic and amino acid profiling, bioactive compounds (vitamins, minerals, polyphenols) and toxic compounds that exist or produced during food processing.
