Monmouth College was founded by the Presbyterian Church and opened as Monmouth Academy in 1853. Situated on the American frontier in Monmouth, Illinois, the founders received widespread support from townsfolk of every sect who saw the value in having a strong educational institution in their new town.聽
The college has a strong military history that dates back to its very foundation, on the eve of the American Civil War. As soon as it opened, most of the college鈥檚 male staff and students left to fight for the Union. Despite diminished student numbers classes continued throughout the war. During World War Two the college鈥檚 future was threatened when large numbers of students enlisted, but an arrangement with the US Navy allowed Monmouth to become a Naval Flight Preparation School, and thus remain open.
Monmouth is a purely undergraduate college, awarding Bachelor of Arts degrees in arts, sciences, humanities, languages and more. 35 majors are offered in total, along with almost 40 minors. Pre-professional programmes are available in fields including actuarial science, architecture, law, physical therapy and seminary. The college provides an integrated liberal arts core curriculum.
The first fraternity for women, Pi Beta Phi, was founded at Monmouth College.
Monmouth College modified its relationship with the Presbyterian Church in the 1960s, secularising its trustees and taking on more business leaders. However, the college maintains a covenant relationship with the church.

University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit an Assistant, Timetabling & Operations in Academic Services Office Your Responsibility The Assistant, Timetabling & Operations will support the Timetabling & Operations team in the Academic Services Office mainly for timetabling and exams support, teaching & learning development and curriculum management. Your key responsibilities include: Timetabling Tasks: Schedule teaching timetables and manage the entire process from timetable data collection to timetable publication. Maintain student enrolment and teaching timetable records across all timetable-related systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Participate in the testing of the Tri-campus Timetabling system. Handle general student timetable enquiries efficiently and provide timely and effective resolutions. Coordinate Government Awards Applications: Work as contact point for Local Government Teaching & Learning Awards applications, liaising with Municipal/Provincial/National Department to facilitate communication, and providing support to develop TL related reports and data analysis to inform decisions. Curriculum Management Tasks: Support to the curriculum (programmes/modules) management tasks including documentation preparation, annual curriculum update, and data maintenance in the Campus Solutions system. Examination Tasks: Support the scheduling of University examination timetables and invigilation arrangements. Respond to and resolve examination-related emergencies during exam periods. Provide administrative and operational support for other national examinations, and handle general student enquiries. Other: Work with other function units within the Office at key points of the academic year (e.g. Graduation, Registration, conference) to ensure a 'fit for purpose' administrative support service to all areas of the Office's work and responsibilities; Participate in training and staff development, as trainer or trainee as appropriate. About You Essential A Master鈥檚 Degree; Experience of working in an international setting and/or education organization; Excellent communication skills at all levels with strong oral and written skills in both Mandarin and English; Excellent data management and analysis skills; Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Publisher; Ability to priorities work and meet the deadline; Strong problem-solving skills; Ability to work accurately under pressure; Team spirit; Attention to details; Strong sense of responsibility; Willingness to work out of office hours or during holidays occasionally if requested.
