Your personal sphere of influence: Fundamental Theology is one of the areas of study and research of the Department for Systematic Theology and Ethics at the Faculty of Catholic Theology. The shared approach of Fundamental Theology in Vienna is to relate theology to contemporary societal challenges as well as to other academic disciplines, thereby contributing to the resolution of current socio-political issues. To this end, the Fundamental Theology department is actively involved in the multidisciplinary research center Religion and Transformation (RaT). Particular focus is given to the question of God in the context of secular modernity, as well as questions of theology and philosophy of history, and aesthetics. As a university assistant (predoctoral), you will join the research team of the Department of Fundamental Theology and the research center Religion and Transformation (RaT). What is particularly important to us: An international outlook, an interdisciplinary approach, and strong connections with other Departments, particularly the Institute of German Studies and/or Philosophy and the research center RaT; an interest in the Department’s research priorities, and a profound understanding of Catholic systematic theology and philosophy, the Bible and its reception, as well as aesthetics and literature. Your future tasks: You will actively participate in teaching, research, and administration, which means: You will independently teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement. Supervising students and assisting with the supervision of academic qualification theses. You will contribute to the research at the Department of Fundamental Theology. Participating in research projects and in applications for third-party funding, contributing to publications and scholarly articles, and giving presentations will be a central part of your responsibilities. We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12–18 months. You are working on your dissertation and its completion. The dissertation project should contribute to the Department’s key themes in the areas of the question of God, the theology of history, and aesthetics. You will perform administrative duties in research and teaching. Collaboration with the research centre Religion and Transformation. LJMU supports the design of buildings and structures by quantifying potential waste and incorporating biomaterials using locally available resources, leveraging its expertise in engineering characterisation of construction materials, on-site and lab-based testing, computational modelling, and project sustainability evaluation with carbon tools. We are now looking for a Research Assistant in the School of Engineering and Built Environment. You will be self-motivated with a proven track record on engineering knowledge on building and infrastructure development needs aligned with SDGs and experienced on working in a team environment. You will be able to raise the profile and promote the activities of the project. You will assess and enhance the resilience of regional and European supply chains for zero-cement concrete production. You will optimise zero-cement concrete material compositions utilising regional resources. In addition, you will conduct thorough testing of geopolymer synthesis and bacteria-based self-healing systems and perform a variety of durability tests on concrete samples. ROLES OVERVIEW: The broad mandate of the Educational Developer position is to support the implementation across XJTLU of learning and teaching. This is mainly achieved through the delivery of institutional academic development programmes; primarily, the PGCert programme, and other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes. Other areas of support include providing assistance and guidance on peer review, and curriculum and assessment design, as well as collaborating with departments to develop specific learning and teaching strategies, events, or activities. Act as a consultant/coach to academic staff seeking to enhance the quality of their teaching. Maintain and develop resources, including websites and other tools that facilitate national and international good practice in learning and teaching. Work closely with staff in other professional services to promote the use of appropriate technologies, facilities and methods in learning and teaching. Work collaboratively with departments, schools and centres, to contribute to achieving the strategic ambitions of the University in relation to academic enhancement and excellence in learning, teaching and research, and to contribute to achieving the University’s ongoing operational objectives. Reflect on personal professional practice and keep abreast of current developments in learning and teaching through engagement with the wider community via subject associations, attendance and presentations at conferences, colloquiums and personal development days. Excellent knowledge of current theories and practices in education, particularly with respect to post-secondary teaching and learning (e.g. student-centred active learning, large classes, small groups, team-based learning, blended and online learning, flipped classrooms, transnational education etc.), and educational development. The ability to create and deliver programming (informal and formal stand-alone or embedded activities) for teaching development. Collegiality and a willingness to work with others. The ability to effectively lead and collaborate on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams, multi-tasking and establishing priorities and meeting deadlines with minimal direction. Knowledge of and experience in Quality Assurance processes including accreditation requirements of professional bodies, and understanding of approaches to quality enhancement. Strong computer skills, including a high degree of facility with the use of all Microsoft applications and the use of Web 2.0 technologies for educational purposes using a VLE (Moodle preferred). A Masters in Education or related field, PhD in Education, EdD or related field preferred.
