Spalding University is a higher learning institution in the city of Louisville, Kentucky, and has been co-educational since 1973. The university is affiliated with the Catholic organisation the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, and is named for the founder of the movement Catherine Spalding.

There are fourteen departments of study offering over 50 undergraduate degree programmes. The university also provides over 20 masters courses, and doctoral studies in clinical psychology, nursing practice, and education leadership. The School of Liberal Studies provides an interdisciplinary education in the fields such as English, psychology and religious studies, and offers a study abroad trip to Ireland every other year.

Spalding is based on a small campus in the centre of Louisville, encapsulated by historic architecture and the Ohio river. The city itself can be a huge draw for students, with world famous events such as the Kentucky Derby, thriving art scene and variety of cultural locations.

Athletics teams at Spalding are known as the Golden Eagles, and compete in the NCAA Division III. In total there are six men鈥檚 sports programmes and eight women鈥檚, in total hosting over 200 scholar athletes. Located six miles from campus, Derby City Field is the home of the Eagles baseball team, which were the 2012 USCAA World Series champions.

The Administration Building at Spalding is attached to the original college building, a residential structure built in 1871 and known as 鈥榯he Mansion鈥, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Spalding university colours are blue and yellow, and its motto is 鈥榳hat do You want out of life?鈥.
