Universidade Federal de Jatai is a higher education institution located in the Brazilian city of Jatai. It has its roots with the Federal University of Goias established in 1980, but gained its current name in 2018. There are around 3,000 undergraduate students admitted at one time, across the university’s two campuses: Riachuelo and Jatoba. There are four main general areas of study at the university are agrarian, biology and health, sciences, and human studies. Across these areas, a range of degree programmes can be taken, ranging from chemistry to literature, pedagogy to animal science, forest engineering to medicine. The city of Jatai is known for its agricultural production of goods including soybeans and rice, as well as poultry and cattle. There are several multinational companies located in the city as a result, including Nestle, Cosan and ADM. There are three universities in the city.

Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will support the research and implementation of a longitudinal study of early childhood development in Hong Kong as well as the preparation of research proposals under the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to the preparation of research proposals and contribute to other research projects of the Social Sciences Research Centre (SSRC: https://www.socsc.hku.hk/ssrc/people/) in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Key responsibilities include: Collecting, cleaning, and analysing research data under supervision, ensuring accuracy, quality and integrity throughout the process. Preparing comprehensive technical reports detailing research methods, findings, and implications. Developing manuscripts for submission to high-impact academic journals and presenting research findings at conferences and research institutions to disseminate results. Assisting in the development and drafting of research grant proposals to secure funding and support. Supervise and co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as junior research support staff. Performing any other research duties as assigned to support the success of projects. Requirements Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification in sociology or a closely related social sciences discipline. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities: Excellent written and spoken proficiency in both English and Chinese. Strong quantitative research skills within sociology or social sciences, demonstrated through relevant experience or coursework. Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or other relevant tools to facilitate data analysis and interpretation. Experience or interest in conducting research on topics related to child and youth development, family studies, education, and physical and psychological health disparities. Experience in data collection projects is preferred. The University of Southampton has been awarded funding to develop and host a Public Health National Specialist Centre (PHNSC). The PHNSC provides research advice nationally for Public Health research projects seeking funding within specific areas and including development of award applications, advice on setting up studies, collaboration opportunities and support for PPIE and a Public Health Enabling Research Service (PHERcS), producing guidance, toolkits, governance and ethics and Public Health research delivery in non-NHS settings to equip organisations to host/sponsor their own research and understand the responsibilities and risks. Regionally, the service is available for researchers for training, events and support to increase capability in Public Health research and for local authority partners creating learning partnerships to understand and respond to Public Health research needs and increase Public Health research capacity. About the Role The Research Ethics & Publication Support Manager will support our ongoing work in supporting the ethics, governance outputs of the research process. The role holder will work with the Research Ethics & Governance Support Senior Manager to manage the operation of the Public Health Research Ethics Committee (PHREC) and to manage a publication resource hosted on the University of Southampton website. This role will work within the PHERcS team to help support researchers in non-NHS settings to be research active. You will have knowledge and experience of research within the public health sector, and to be able to work collaboratively to project delivery dates. You will also be an excellent communicator and able to build relationships both internally and externally.
