The organisation and delivery of University Open Days for Undergraduate and Postgraduate prospective students is an essential component to recruit high quality students and showcase what the University of Southampton has to offer. The Student Recruitment, Marketing and Events Department is looking to recruit an events expert, with experience of large-scale event delivery to organise this key activity as a maternity cover. Ideally the post holder will have an understanding of the education sector, but this isn鈥檛 essential. A proven record of complex event management with multiple stakeholders will be required as well as a passion for the sector to deliver what is expected from our prospective students. We are now looking for a doctoral researcher in quantum computing and algorithms for Life Science applications. Are you as excited about quantum technology and its future applications as we are? We are seeking a doctoral researcher to join the Micro and Quantum Systems (MQS) research group in the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering at Aalto University. MQS currently comprises more than 18 members and is expanding. We are advancing foundational topics in quantum computing and their practical applications. In this position, you will work at the intersection of quantum computing, computational biology, genomics, and materials science. You will have the opportunity to delve deeply into quantum computing and contribute to high-quality research with real-world impact. Join us in shaping the future! Your role and goals Your primary task as a doctoral researcher is to conduct research in quantum algorithms and quantum information, leading to the completion of your PhD. You are expected to take an active role in advancing the MQS group鈥檚 research projects. Our recent work has focused on the theory and applications of quantum walk algorithms, variational quantum algorithms and their optimization, adiabatic quantum computation, and quantum machine learning. Theoretical and applied research into the capabilities of quantum computing and quantum advantage is a prospective topic across four application domains: bioinformatics, breeding, biomaterial synthesis, and cellulose鈥憄rocessing enzyme design. You will develop hybrid quantum鈥慶lassical algorithms to tackle domain鈥憇pecific, computationally demanding problems. Methods will be designed for near鈥憈erm (NISQ鈥慹ra) deployment, with models evaluated for expressivity, training stability, scalability, and resource requirements on representative problem sizes, and systematically benchmarked against fully classical baselines. In parallel, medium鈥 to long鈥憈erm quantum algorithms will be explored to assess quantum readiness and to establish innovative methodologies relevant to each application field. The exact research topics can be tailored to your interests within the scope of our current projects. Your goal is to produce world鈥慶lass research results, in collaboration with other group members in the lively environment of the MQS group, and to publish them in high鈥慽mpact journals. In addition to research, you will be expected to take doctoral coursework and participate in the group鈥檚 teaching activities. An exciting opportunity is available for a talented qualitative researcher to join a successful team in the Primary Care Research Centre to conduct qualitative research and intervention planning for a primary care practitioner intervention to support autistic/ADHD/AuDHD adults with mental health problems The post is available under the supervision of Dr Hannah Bowers in close collaboration with the wider MINDS study team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting qualitative interviews with primary care practitioners, analysing qualitative data and conducting stakeholder and lived experience workshops. The role will also include planning an intervention using the Person-Based Approach. There will be opportunities to contribute to other elements of the research subject to capacity and competencies. Applicants will have experience of conducting qualitative research. You will also have experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams. Successful applicants will have demonstrated their ability to work independently and efficiently in a research context and will have excellent written English skills with meticulous attention to detail. Your knowledge and experience will usually have been gained through a relevant PhD, but may also have been achieved via other research experience, normally supported by a relevant postgraduate degree.
